How are travel times estimated?
When labelled “Live traffic ETA”, driving times come from Google Maps for departure now, between neighbourhood centres, and may be cached for up to one minute. Otherwise, these are planning estimates, not live or road-routed ETAs. We use approximate neighbourhood centres, straight-line distance × 1.35 as a road-distance allowance, and 18–28 km/h for regular or 10–18 km/h for busy conditions, plus 5 minutes. Same-area trips use a local 5–15 minute allowance (10–25 when busy). Your exact address, one-way roads, weather and current congestion can change the journey substantially. The meeting area balances both journeys across a small set of areas; it is not a guaranteed optimal route.
